Creepy junk mail

Got a flier in the mail, today, detailing who voted in our neighborhood in the last elections.  By address and name.

That was creepy, and more than vaguely threatening.

  1. Creepy is right!

It could have been worse if "they" had included who they voted for......

    1. That would have rocketed past "creepy," breezed through "vaguely threatening" and moved right into "openly threatening", and terrifying in a "we know where you live" sense.

  2. I get "freedom of speech," but that's just plain creepy and awful.

If they actually had listed who had voted for whom, the message would easily fall under "potential voter intimidation" and would probably be illegal.

I really don't like how apparently social media/internet searches/other stuff are being data mined so that candidates and such can tailor their calls. I treasure the fact that our votes are (were?) private, and that my neighbors should not know how I voted unless **I** choose to tell them.

    1. Agreed on all counts, but I'd argue that it sort of falls under voter intimidation, anyway. Odysseus might have said it's so we can talk to our neighbors about voting (and for whom to vote, but that was even lower on the unspoken message in that flier), but it really smacked of "vote...or else." Intimidation.
