Paying cash for my next house...

...because I refuse to hand over one single dime more than the government forces out of my hands at gunpoint.

  2. I paid cash for my house.

It was a struggle, and I was only able to do it because my dad gave me part of my "inheritance" early. And it was a PITA because the lawyer had a hard time understanding that yes, this was a cash transaction and no, I was not having a mortgage. (I think he didn't take me fully seriously either, because I was a single woman in her early 30s. He was very old-school and when we first met, he just stopped short of saying, "Honey, wouldn't you rather wait until you're married, and let your husband take care of this?")

But boy damn, am I glad I did. I am so glad that I have the papers to my house tucked away and I don't have to write monthly checks to some bank.

    1. Heh. I'm lucky. I have a husband and father-in-law to sick on any idiots.

We wouldn't have made it through the year plus that Odysseus wasn't working had we been paying rent,or still paying mortgage.
