Couldn't get back to sleep. Again.

And, apparently, my new coffeemaker really is loud enough to wake very soundly sleeping toddlers.  This is the longest they've slept in (it's actually after 7:00 a.m.!!) in a couple of weeks.

So, I'm sitting here, mind revving, but going nowhere, and I can't even go start a freakin' cup of coffee without waking the kids.

Oh, well.  At least I've got my grading to keep me company.  Eight more papers to grade, then I can jump into grading blogs!  Oh, joy.

(In case you can't tell, I'm really not a morning person.)

  1. Just three words Ms. H - "french coffee press". Honestly, it's the only way I drink coffee, really don't like it our of a coffee pot of any manufacturer. You've probably tried it, but if not you can find a little 4-cupper for around $20 or so, I think you might like it.

    And . . . it's very quiet! :)

    1. The problem is the grinder in the pot...sounds like a jet dragster taking off. And I don't have any ground coffee.

    2. But yeah, I've got a French Press. Makes great coffee. I use it to make decaf in the evenings after the kids go to bed.

    3. I have never understood our nation's 'taste' for coffee.

A caffeine rush in the AM, gives me a kick start for the day!

My specialty is generic instant coffee, using the microwave to heat the water!

      Works fine!

    4. I started out with instant, then moved to percolator coffee, then to brewed, then to gourmet ground, then to whole bean that I grind. I still use instant, sometimes, but only when I'm in the mood for mocha or cooking with the crystals.

With costs rising, I'm strongly tempted to start buying the green coffee beans in bulk, and learning to roast my own.
