It's begun...

I'm working on clearing the cabinets out in the kitchen.  This will be a good time to get rid of stuff I don't need.  I actually got a lot done today.

The sixteen quart stock pot is not in that list of things.  I may not need it often, but when I need it, I need it.  Do any of y'all have any idea how much chili that makes?

  1. I'd guess fifteen quarts...allowing one quart for spillage. Lots of goodness.

    1. Yeah, but...it's one thing to think about it. It's another thing entirely to make a 16 quart pot near-brimming full of chili, and *see* it.

  2. Then there is my 22 quart water bath canner. My bride tried to turn it into the dog's water bowl. HA! She was still smiling after I put up the good eats for later, hehehe.

Last time I killed a bear that 22 qt canner ended up full of meat to be heated through and then pressure canned.

But for that much chili we'd have to break out the BIG pressure canner instead. She won't mess with THAT!

Nope, can't let such treasures go expect to someone younger who will keep me supplied...and I have not found that person yet.

    1. I don't have a pressure canner. I'm looking for a good one that I can afford (big issue, there), and a good book on how to use it.
