Wow. Early.

I heard geese, this morning, when I walked the pup this morning.  Usually, I don't start hearing geese until mid to late September.

I wonder if that's a sign that it's going to be an early winter.

  1. Our little community is known for their Maple trees - or at least we were until the windstorm-from-hell removed about 75% of them a couple summers back. There are WAY TOO MANY of those remaining beginning to "turn". WTF???? Hello?? August 12th for pete's sake!! Even the air has that "touch of fall" that is typical for the very beginning of September. Not a good sign . . .

    1. Honestly, I would love a long, cool fall--especially one where the kids and dog could spend a lot of time playing outside.

  3. I say, "come on, winter!" I'm tired of stewing in the heat and humidity. Guess I ought to start getting the wood pile up to snuff though.

    1. I'd rather have a long stretch of weather where the kids can play outside a lot, and run off some of their energy.

  4. Solar cycles are around 11 years. The last wet, cold winter cycle was around 2002, which fits the cycle.

My personal opinion is that this winter will be early. Whether it's colder,or just wetter, is to be seen.

    2. It has been a strange one, hasn't it, OCM? Personally, I've been glad it hasn't been as hot as usual where we are, even if we've gotten three plus months worth of rain in the first ten days of what should have been the driest month. I'm thinkin' we're going to have a wet winter, Jess.
