Little angry, today...

I walked into the bottom floor of the library, then took the elevator up to the circulation desk for my classroom key, just like I always do.  I turned to go up the last floor to my classroom, and came face to print with a whiteboard sign stand, just inside the front doors, and this is where the spitting mad came in.

The sign?  Written yesterday.  Had the footprints of the American chicken all over it,* and wished all viewers "Happy Vietnam Peace Day."

Um...what?

Did I read that right?

Sure did.

There is a holiday celebrating our defeat.

GRRRR!!!!!

*The hippie peace symbol.

  1. I get where you are coming from BUT it was NOT 'our' defeat, it was the cave-in by the spineless dems in CONgress that sold out the Republic of Viet Nam. Hope this makes ya feel a bit better.
    PS: I didn't 'celebrate' either..................

    1. We, as a nation, gave up, went home, and abandoned our allies. That counts as a defeat, in my mind.

I am aware that it was mostly the spineless creatures in DC at the time that did it, but it had horrible effects on our soldiers' morale, and on our reputation with the nations battling communist takeovers.

    1. I made friends with a Greyhound bus driver by cussing up a storm when I spotted a bunch of hippie protesters against their cause of the week. He asked me what I thought about Vietnam, and I told him that we could have won it if we'd had a congress that hadn't been bought off by communists.

They can certainly kiss my ass, too. Neither Korea nor Vietnam are anything to be celebrated.

  4. I'm assuming it's the action of someone who has a poor grasp of history, like the people who wear Che t-shirts without ever knowing what a murderous bastard he actually was.

That said, I suspect in 50 years or so there will be people celebrating "Afghanistan Peace Day." If there's still a US to be celebrating things....
