A day late...

Clogged sinks can FUCK THE FUCKING FUCK off.  Especially clogged sinks that resist baking soda and vinegar, Drano, Drano Foaming, the drain snake, and everything else we could fucking think of.  Odysseus has been working on it on and off all fucking day, and nothing.  We can't even find it.  And the snake?  is fifteen feet long.  And he dismantled the drain down to the floor of the cabinet before trying the snake the last time.

Fuck.

  1. My mother's house has a technical sink problem that requires climbing on the roof, passing a snake down the main vent and clearing out the clog.

It's a pain in the ass, but it works, when nothing else will.

    1. I think we'll be calling a plumber on Monday.

    2. I've used one of those drain blasters, which fits on the end of a garden hose and is lowered into the vent. They seal the pipe, so air won't escape and the pressure forces the clog down the main line to the sewer.

They're cheap and much cheaper than dealing with a plumber. You can find them at the box stores, like Lowe's.

    3. Cheaper, perhaps...at first. My husband is over six foot tall, has a rather high center of gravity, and thinks a plumber would be cheaper than dealing with the bills to get a broken arm treated.

    4. :-)

      Good luck. Hope it's simple.

    5. I hope so, too. Complicated = expensive.

  2. Plumbing problems are infuriating. I'm sorry you are having to deal with that. We usually try to fix a plumbing issue ourselves, as you did. If it doesn't work, we pay the plumber. Sometimes you just have to do that.

    1. We even tried a plunger (after the baking soda and vinegar, but before the Drano).

    2. I'm damned if I know what else you can do. But take heart, some good will come of it. The plumber won't have to worry about making this quarters tuition payment at Harvard for his son now.

I know plumbing problems are bad, but I find if I don't take them in stride and make light of them I get so angry I am at risk of a stroke. Who needs plumbing issues on top of everything else they are trying to cope with.

    3. The plumber we work with has a physically disabled wife and daughter. Yes, they're on SSI, but it's not a whole lot. His son-in-law is trying to learn an actual trade. I don't feel bad about our money going to them.
