You know you're courting burnout...

...when you're tempted to either give a student an A just to get them to STFU and go away, or tell them that all the problems they're having in your class are caused by the fact that they're too stupid to breathe, so they should either stop breathing, since they're obviously doing it wrong, or drop your class.

  1. You have my sympathy. I had a student Spring semester that, if he had not earned a passing grade in my class, I would have been sorely tempted to give him one, just so he'd graduate and I'd never have to deal with him again. Luckily he squeaked out a C, so I wasn't faced with that ethical dilemma.

    1. Mine has a high B, and is frantic for an A.

      It tempts me to give the student a C just to fuck up their world.
