Pay cash. In full. You never know who might end up owning your home, otherwise.
Best yet? You cannot shake off debt to a government agency by filing bankruptcy.

Sane rants on an insane world. Read at your own risk. Don't blame me if your head explodes.
DW and I are planning to buy an RV. I figure just hook up and bail...
ReplyDeleteWe wouldn't have enough room for all of our books. We've got one six shelf bookcase, three five-shelf bookcases, also stacked three layers deep, one four shelf bookcase, one standard-width three shelf bookcase, two 3' wide 30" tall three shelf bookcases, all stacked two layers deep, when we had all of our books here in the house with us. We really *need* a dedicated library room.
DeleteDo I ever hear that! And my "little woman" refuses to allow a single book to come into "her" house so all mine remain in boxes in the garage. Maybe when I build a barn I can add a "library" for the sheep and I?
DeleteAfter I crawled away from university I did not read much for about two years. Then all that inbuilt curiosity got my nose back in the books. Now that I am not far from the Reaper, I STILL read a lot. On the other hand, I don't think I've seen my bride with any reading material since she landed her job. Her computer activity is largely limited to Facebook and her family.

That's...sad, and kinda frightening. I can't imagine my life without books in it. (One of the shelves on one of our three foot wide bookcases is now dedicated to nothing but children's books--and the kids are constantly grabbing a book when they feel like sitting still for a few minutes)
DeleteWhile it's not the same how would the Mrs feel about a Kindle?
DeleteLOL, I seriously doubt SHE would use it...I can already hear her calling me to turn the pages for her, LOL.
DeleteAs for me, since I have been banned most of my reading is this damn disputer. I do miss the recreational reading however. Though you folks do come close at times, esp when your Mrs gets up on her horse and lets the big wind out, LMHO.

Your suggestion is exactly what we did. Cash in full, yet it took almost five months to pry the place out of the hands of Freddie Mac. But I ended up talking to a lawyer about it and Yes! Indeed! I have clear title. BUT with a "small" caveat.
ReplyDeleteThe owner of a foreclosed property where fraud has been proved STILL has five full years to get his property back, even if sold to some poor tightwad like me. And of course, fraud is rife throughout virtually ALL RE in the USA in the last few years. So be aware, and realize the risks.
Regarding your linked article...my reaction to it was simply this is yet another criminal mechanism to steal more money from the homeowners and the taxpayers. I say jail criminals who propose such crap as well as prosecute all the fraud, starting in the Black House and head on down.
Winston
Agreed.
