Kinda interesting...

Did you know that the sun is acting in ways scientists didn't predict?  What a shock!  (Note the obligatory "this won't do anything to halt global warming!!!" religious hysteria at the end.)

Honestly, if they were that concerned, they'd work harder to repeal the ethanol mandate, which is demonstrably harming the environment by causing people to plow and plant corn in soil that isn't good for growing anything but grass.

  1. I saw a show on that recently. The soil gets washed into the rivers, then it clogs up the water systems where cities are drawing water out of the rivers. It is also apparently causing big dead zones out in the Gulf. But no matter, the Senators from corn producing states are happy because they are getting all those subsidies for their constituents, and that's really what matters.

    1. The dead zones were mentioned. The senators are happy, but the constituents aren't, so much--too much pressure on them.

    That should be fun...

    1. I wouldn't be surprised. We've already had some snow flurries in SW MO.

  3. The ethanol mandate is a bad idea on many fronts - environmental, economic (food price inflation is strongly influenced by the price of corn), global hunger.....it seems like it was done mainly to buy votes in the largely corn-growing states.

It frustrates me, the amount of bad legislation that gets passed because it buys votes. A lot of the mess we are in in many areas is because politicians are so addicted to staying in Washington and keeping their perks....

    1. Oh, it's worse than that. The ethanol mandate is something that even farmers are angry about--I've got nothing against genetically modified foods, but it's their lobby pushing the mandate so hard. And corn isn't even the best source of ethanol, just what we can grow in our climate!

    1. Yeah, we're okay, for the most part. The kids are acting out, and I hate complaining on my blog.
