I can't explain this in any other way. A Texas Homeowners' Association is suing a returning army veteran for putting up a swingset for his kids in his own back yard. They're trying to make him take it down because they say he didn't submit a request in writing with drawings. He's fighting it, because he said he asked and got verbal permission to put up a swingset. He says nobody told him he had to submit all of his plans.
I understand that that was in a HOA neighborhood, and he doesn't have the right to shit in his own bathroom without permission in triplicate, but I really hope the judge tells the HOA to take a hike. The individual in question actually tried to comply with their regulations, and nobody told him he wasn't until after the gigantic swingset was up.
It really takes a very small person to force someone to take a promised toy away from their kids because it's "ugly"--especially when it isn't.

HOA are a pain in the ass. The whole community of Celebration, FL. is an HOA. They just did a big crack down about stuff people had in their yards.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a boat/RV or what ever it can't be park any place else but the storage company.
No wonder you want to move back to the land of the free!
DeleteTypical home owners association. I quit paying my dues years ago. Told 'em to shove it up their butts.
DeleteThere aren't many HOAs in this area of Missouri. I wouldn't buy a house in a neighborhood where there was one. If that meant I couldn't live in town...oh well.
DeleteThank you for pressure testing my Cardio-vascular system. It works.
ReplyDeleteNow where the hell is my Lisinopril...
