Bug, or feature?

Apparently, more and more people are admitting that the slowly-activating "Affordable" Care Act is driving up costs for consumers.  Everywhere, every time, but mostly on those whom it was supposed to serve: lower income, childless singles

Makes you wonder if that was an intended consequence by the ones who fancy themselves our betters to deliberately deny medical care to the rabble, or an unintended consequence that's surprising only those who are too stupid to add two plus two and come up with four instead of purple?

  1. Normally I go with the Heinlein maxim: Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

In this case - with the likes of Babs Boxer I'd say - BOTH. She is not only stupid - she is evil. So with Malice and Very Little Forethought.

    Because she just knows better.

    1. I think it was malice on the part of the assholes that pushed the law through congress, and stupidity on the part of the idiots who voted the assholes into office.

  2. The cost for insurance will too high for most people, so they'll be forced to pay the penalty, which will eat up their annual "bonus" called a refund. At first, they'll be relieved, since they were told for years that healthcare was too expensive. After they realize what they lost, how much the government screwed up their lives and know they were taken for a ride, they'll chalk it up to experience and go back to watching the Kardashians.

    1. Probably. I have little hope for the American way of life. It died when common sense did.

  3. I wonder if it was actually a "stealth" plan to make it all default to single-payer, government-run, because the writers of it KNEW it was too unwieldy to work, and hoped that people would clamor for a single-payer system when they saw how bad the ACA was.

I'm hoping it goes the opposite direction, that people clamor for less government interference in their healthcare.

Frankly, I think there should be a law saying that NO politician is exempt in any way from ANY of the laws/plans/whatever he or she foists upon the American people - so instead of their cushy insurance, Congresscritters and the President get thrown into the exchanges and have a hard time finding a doctor, long waits and possible denial of care for certain things, like the rest of us will get stuck with.

    1. You're probably right. That's why I've been calling it mandatory Medicaid all along.

And I'd make that "law" into a Constitutional amendment: Congress shall not be exempt from any law they create. That, and an amendment forbidding any government power to any who seek it.

  4. Make no mistake about it, single payer, European style, socialized medicine was the goal from the beginning and still is. Ask any medical professional worth their brain cells, and they will tell you the same thing.

    1. Oh, I know that. That's a way to control us. "No, you don't need that heart medication. We don't like the way you vote."
