In a perfect world...

This individual (can't call him a man, and calling him a pussy insults vaginas) would never have faced the test he failed.

Couple of kids decided to commit a home-invasion robbery.  Individual stood in their way and begged them not to go in his house, where his wife and kids were.  The kids shot him in the legs, and left him crying and bleeding on the floor while they chased down his wife and infant daughter to steal his wife's phone, then robbed the house.  The thugs escaped unharmed.

As he was loaded up by paramedics, he was reciting Christ's prayer when he was nailed to the cross: "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."

The individual's mother in law called him a hero, but admitted that the thugs were likely to do it again, and were still out there.

I'm gonna cut in here, with a little bit of commentary.

This individual is NOT a hero.  He's a failure.  He's a failure as a man, he's a failure as a citizen, he's a failure as a husband, and he's a failure as a father.

First.  A man does not react as he did.  A man has the means, ability, and willingness to protect himself.  He had none of the above.

A citizen does not rely on others to protect him or her.  And does not permit those committing violent crimes against him or her to walk away to continue perpetrating those crimes.  Any thug trying that at my home--my home where my children are playing and/or sleeping--is getting perforated.  Several times.  I have the tools and mindset to shoot until the threat stops.  I am a citizen.  The individual in question is government- and church-owned livestock.

A husband that is not a failure does not permit the thugs to chase his wife, nor does a father who is not a failure permit said thugs to have access to his children.  This individual succeeded only in incapacitating himself, not in protecting his children or his family.

Forgiveness follows contrition, or else it isn't forgiveness.  It's nothing more than a cloak for cowardice.

This individual is not a hero.  He simply used Christ's words to excuse his own inadequacies.

FFOT: IIC*

We have some real winners proposing and making laws.  First, we have sanctuary cities, where people who committed a crime to even be in this country, where apparently it's only a little thing where one of these criminals murder a woman who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

There are reasons I refuse to visit St. Louis and Kansas City in my own state.  That is one of them.

Then we have to appease the sackless herbivores** by creating a policy which disarms our soldiers and prevents them from defending themselves, despite the fact that they also argue that our soldiers and cops are the only ones trained enough to be permitted to own and carry said firearms.  And, of course, gun free zone equals target rich environment for those who have no intention of obeying the law, which led to four of our United States Marines being murdered by hajji at a gun free recruiting area.

And now, we have yet another law passed aimed at public schools in VA: the Every Child Achieves Act. They're so proud of themselves for naming art and music as core subjects.  Sad and sorry thing is this: they just doomed the teaching of art and music to go the same way as reading, writing and math--teaching the subject is going to go the way of teaching subjects tested always do.

And that's leaving aside the simple truth that not every child is capable of achieving to the same levels.  Many are not capable of achieving to the lowest level deemed adequate.  Are they going to do the same as they did with reading, writing, and math, and dumb everything down to the level that the least capable is able to reach, and ignore the ones that are capable of the top levels of achievement?

I know, I know: these things I've mentioned are either against the law (which criminals ignore, as I have already pointed out) or an unintended consequence.  Actually, all three instances are all unintended consequences of totally asinine laws, written and passed by mouth-breathing morons who happen to be for sale tto the highewst bidder.

I'm still debating whether our elected civil servants are whores or pimps, considering that they take the money while the rest of us get screwed.

I wish they'd go fuck themselves instead.

My giveadamn's busted.

Baltimore.  I just...don't care.  The people of Baltimore have chosen the course that has led to the consequences they're facing.  They voted for the shitheaps that created policy that led to the repeated incidences of police brutality that had everybody believing that the cops there severed Gray's spinal cord.

It isn't going to matter if evidence and autopsies prove that he did it to himself in the hopes of being able to sue the city.  Like with Ferguson, rioters are converging on Baltimore to destroy it, and no inconvenient fact is going to interfere with their beliefs that the cops murdered another undeserving black man.

I cannot bring myself to feel for the "victims" of the rioting.  They chose this, through their voting patterns, and through remaining in the situation.  The only ones I feel sorry for is those who are trying to keep family-owned businesses that have been in the same place for generations, businesses who literally could not survive without their long-built-up customer bases...and I question how many of those there actually are.

I do not feel sorry for the rioters--they aren't there for Gray, or for any honest protests about police brutality.*  So fucking what if their bail is "unfair" (according to lawyers)?  They earned the price the judges set on their heads, every penny.

I do not feel sorry for the scumbag's family.  If they'd really cared for the young man, they'd have stepped in a long time ago and taught him real, civilized values, instead of turning him into a stupid sociopath predator.

I do not feel sorry for the scumbag.  Especially since evidence has come out showing he'd done it to himself.

I do not feel sorry for the police force.  From what I've read, they've been predators on the law abiding almost as bad as Gray was.

I do feel sorry for the good ones amongst the bad, but that's limited by the fact that they have not stepped up to boot the scumbags out of uniform and out of the force.  They are as much at fault for the current situation as the bad cops.  Remember what they say about what allows evil to flourish.

Seriously.  At this point, after all of this, my ability to care, which is sorely limited by my own borderline sociopathic tendencies to not care about other people, has been completely worn out.

Pretty sure the "I didn't mean it like that" defense didn't work for Edward II.

Back in the early middle ages, a king appointed one of his courtiers to the office of Archbishop of Canterbury.  He assumed that his man would represent the interests of the crown rather than that of the Church.

It backfired spectacularly.  Thomas Becket was ordained, and began representing the interests of the Church, which pissed off the king...to the point where Becket fled to the Continent for a few years.  Once he returned, during the reign of the following king (who broke tradition and was crowned elsewhere--a bad sign), things got worse: the king, Edward II, said something along the lines of "Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?"  The exact wording is under dispute, but what happened was that four knights, freshly returned from the Crusades, decided that this was a Royal Command, and went to confront Becket.  And then, they murdered him in the cathedral.

Three years later, he was canonized.  No, the king wasn't directly punished, but that was pretty much a slap in the face, a "we don't believe you didn't mean it" from Rome.

I see shades of that happening in San Diego, now.  San Diego has passed an anti-gang law that states that even those inciting gang violence, knowingly or unknowingly, or profiting from it in some way, are liable as conspirators.  And now, they've arrested a rapper--Brandon Duncan, aka Tiny Doo--under said law.  He faces prison for life with all of the charges laid against him.

The ACLU are protecting him, stating that he has a right to rap about whatever he wants--that the first amendment protects him and his art.

I can, on the one hand, see their point.

On the other hand, Duncan's defense strikes me as a cross between that of Edward II who implied that he wanted the Archbishop of Canterbury murdered, and that of the type of idiot that screams "fire!" in a crowded theater, then tries claiming that it was his right under the freedom of speech.

Pretty much all of the gangsta rappers tend to incite violence, crime, and rioting.  Why shouldn't they be prosecuted under similar laws that normal people inciting riots are prosecuted under?

Sticking to my knitting.

I'm more than a bit upset about the recent spate of revenge killing of police officers.  On the one hand, I can see where it's coming from: various incidents with SWAT and with overreactions to honest-to-God peaceful, law-abiding people questioning why they were being detained/questioned/thrown face first on the ground, and/or family pets shot out of hand.  Only problem is that it's not the cops that have sown the wind who are reaping the whirlwind.  It's the poor schlubs that are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

And leftist mouth-breathing leavings from a diseased whore's dripping twat bloviating about how the police were wrong (*ahem* de Blasio, Sharpton, Jackson, et. al. ad nauseum) have done nothing but destabilize an already explosive situation.

I cannot do anything to affect any of it.  Not one damn thing.

Especially as these poor schlubs have been fed the lie that I am a dangerous individual because I believe in the rule of law set down by the United States Constitution, rather than the rule of whim of the ruling classes that we aren't supposed to have, but do anyway.  They'd rather cozy up to and carry the scorpion across the river.  Because there's no way the leftists would stab them in the back, right?

As I said: there's nothing I can do.  Not personally, and not with my small readership.  All I can do is keep a weather eye on things and hope the storm bypasses my life, and doesn't endanger my family.

Woah, buddy, time to lawyer up.

Yep.  Time to lawyer up and sue the ever-livin' fuck out of the city of Philadelphia, and the state of Pennsylvania for permitting this to happen in the first place.

Seriously.  The city tax office admitted to making up the $280K back taxes bill out of whole cloth, and because the guy, who lives on a fixed income, didn't purchase the transcript that some petty bureaucrat ordered him to, a fucknugget sitting on the bench and claiming to be a judge ruled that the guy had to pay the bill that everybody involved admitted he didn't owe.

I'm pretty sure that suing the city for a few tens of millions of dollars, with the lawyer paid half of the proceeds, would get him a damn good one willing to work without retainer.

Shocking!

No, really!

New York City has had a 30% increase in crime (especially violent crime committed with a firearm) in its public housing projects!

I cannot believe it.  It's completely shocking.  I mean, really--only 30%?

That's a massive sign that their law enforcement is actually somewhat effective.  I would have expected 50%, easy.  Maybe even 100%.

After all, it is New York City--the city that's only a couple of steps behind Chicago in allowing only criminals and the rich and powerful to have armed protection.  We can't have the peons thinking they're the equals of the political classes, after all.  Where do they think they are, America?

OH MY GOD!!!

We've got to confiscate all guns so that women sleeping in hotels won't be randomly attacked!!!

Oh, wait...whups, my bad.

It happened in London, where guns are already banned.  The attacker used a hammer, not a gun.

If someone is going to be violent, it's the person, not the tool, that is the important part of the equation.

So.

We had another spree shooting happen yesterday.  Ft. Hood.  Again.

This time, however, it wasn't terrorism related.  No, this was related to most of the other non-ideologically motivated spree shootings that have happened over the last several years: SSRI drugs and other psychoactives were involved.

The docs need to stop prescribing those meds outside of a residential level of psychiatric care...or outside of a prison.  These drugs are nasty-dangerous, and massively overprescribed for normal people who are going through a rough patch.  They're dangerously addictive, as well as having a tendency to cause the patient to try to kill themselves...or go get a gun and kill a lot of other people.

And, of course, the usual twatwaffles are opening their pie-holes and advocating control of the gun, and not the drugs that are actually what cause the issue.

I am so far beyond disgusted with the American Psychiatric Association, the pharmaceutical companies pushing these dangerous groups of drugs, and the media that I want to spit.

Quote of the week:

Area sheriff quoted in a local paper on the rise in home invasion robberies: “What do I think? I think they are pretty damn stupid. Somebody is going to get shot.”

Considering the fact that four out of every five households in the area have a firearm of some type in the home...he's right.  This area happens to be in southwest Missouri, not Illinois.

Unpleasant.

A white Chevy pickup with a tow bar in back and light bar across the top pulled up in the middle of the street next to our car, last night.  Driver got out, and started eyeballing it.  Passenger got out and pointed to the bottom corner of the windshield.  I brought Odysseus's attention to it, and he stepped out onto our porch, and asked what the hell was going on.  Driver of the pickup--a man in his late 40's--started up our front walk, holding out some papers.  Odysseus put his hand on his gun and backed up, and told the guy to stay back.  And then to get the hell off the property and away from the car.

Then, when the truck pulled on down the street, Odysseus called the local PD to report suspicious behavior.

...and the truck pulls back up from the other direction.  Numbnuts went around the block.  Goes to our neighbor's house and talks to him for a bit, then heads back towards our car.

At which point, the local cops pull up behind him, and he freaks out, then bugs out.

Now, I'm not sure whether that was a legitimate repo guy looking for a car, and mistook ours for the one he was looking for (easy to do at TEN FUCKING THIRTY AT FUCKING NIGHT), or was a thief looking for a payday.  It doesn't matter, because we've owned that car since '04, and have had it paid off since '07.  Anybody towing it is stealing it, whether it's a mistake on their part, or not.

Either way, I spent a bad night with a fuckton of nightmares, and Odysseus had a short night after being unable to get to sleep until nearly two this morning.

And if I see that truck, and that individual messing around our vehicles again, he's not going to be real happy.  Nobody is, looking down the barrel of a handgun.

Not sure what to think.

I don't feel real sorry for this guy.  He's been arrested for selling drugs, and one of the women he's slept with claims him as her babydaddy.  The judge on his case has ordered him to provide a DNA swab for a paternity test, and here's where it gets sticky: he's refused.  And so, the judge has ordered that he has to remain available to give one at all times during his incarceration until he complies.  That involves keeping him cuffed and in a shared holding cell under the courthouse for ten hours a day, every day.  He's whining that he's got sores and cuts from being cuffed for so long, and complaining that being crammed in a 12'x16' cell with five or six others and no sunshine is cruel and unusual punishment.

On the one hand...the guy's obviously a creep, and is going to prison anyway.  I won't speak about how wrong the reasons are* but he knew that his actions were illegal, and chose to do them anyway.  Apparently, he's done other illegal things, and is concerned that his DNA will be added to a database, and used to convict him of his other crimes.

And that leads us to the other issue: the fourth and fifth amendments.  You know, the ones where you're supposed to be secure from unreasonable search and seizure in your person, home, and papers, and supposed to have the right not to incriminate yourself?  The ones that have been battered by the NSA et. al.?

He's got the right to refuse.  I suppose the judge has the right to hand down the orders that he's been giving that have made the guy so horribly uncomfortable, or the guy's lawyer would be raising holy hell and pointing fingers.

I see both sides of the issue.  If the guy doesn't want to provide DNA, maybe he ought to just acknowledge the kid his, whether it is or not.

*The War on Drugs is just this generation's attempt at Prohibition...with the exact same results in the rise of organized crime.  Unfortunately, this time, Congress decided to shit on the Constitution with regards to due process and search and seizure, which means that it's not going to be repealed any time soon, since it's profitable this time.

Wanna know why I carry a gun?

I carry a gun so that I am not taken hostage by a career criminal, then shot in the head by a police officer.

I carry a gun because I'm a better shot than a lot of cops I know personally, and because it's my responsibility to protect and care for myself.

I carry a gun because I'm far more motivated to protect my own life (as well as not shoot myself) than any police officer can be.

I carry a gun because it's up to me to protect my children, and to teach my children to be self-reliant.

I carry a gun because, in my opinion, I'd be a shit mother if I didn't.

I feel for the parents of the girl who was killed by the cop when he missed the target.  I feel for the cop, and hope he gets effective help for the self-hate he's facing if he's anything approaching a good person.

Makes sense.

The prosecutors railroading someone who legitimately defended himself under Florida's Castle Doctrine laws want his attacker's past--which would help build a picture of a dangerous criminal instead of the innocent, black choir boy facing a slavering, racist, gun-happy bigot that the media would prefer to see--kept out of the trial.

I am so sick of shit like this.  Throw it all out there: Zimmerman was an idiot, and Martin was a thug.  Let the law and the jury decide what is and isn't relevant.

Carrying a gun might be easier, people.

Courthouse employees in Texas are terrified that they'll be targeted for murder after a District Attorney and his wife were murdered, execution style, recently.  So, they're begging for police escorts and protection.

Y'know, there've been numerous court cases that set the precedent that the police are not obligated to provide safety for an individual, not required to protect those to whom they are sworn.  I think the whole police escort thing is going to further demonstrate that--they're going to get their escort, but when the bullets start flying, those officers are going to be taking cover, away from the targets.

It's always best to depend on yourself.  No one else is as motivated to ensure your safety.

Buy a gun.  A cop is too heavy, and will be less reliable when the fit hits the shan.

Criminal Masterminds list

Ever seen the 100 Things I'd Do If I Ever Became an Evil Overlord?  I'm going to start one for the criminal element out there, because they need help!!!  Lots and lots of mental help and remedial education.

1. Never, ever try to crawl through a doggie door with a big knife to attack your neighbors.  They will shoot your stupid ass while you're stuck.

2. Never, ever shoot a potential victim somewhere that's not instantly debilitating.  That kind of tends to piss them off, and they will shoot your stupid ass.

3.  Never, ever aim a gun at a sleeping woman from a doorway.  She will scream loud enough to wake the dead, scare the shit out of you, take potshots at you, and you will be glad to see the police when they show up to arrest your stupid ass.

4.  Never, ever try to rob a bank with a plastic toy gun.  Someone will retrieve a real gun and shoot your stupid ass.

I think that's it for now.  I'll do more of these as more occur.

And you know they will occur.  The nation did, after all, re-elect King Putt.  That would not have been possible without mouth breathers.

Friday, March 8, 2013

Huh.

I suppose even a blind squirrel can find a nut, sometimes.  Not, mind you, that I blame the gun in this case, either, but it just goes to show that it is possible for a gun to shoot someone without needing a finger on the trigger.

Basically, creep breaks in and steals stuff.  Stashes stuff behind a barn.  Goes and steals a pickup to haul it all away in.  And somehow, manages to get shot by the guns he stole, with nobody pulling the trigger.  Turns out, the way he'd set them up caused one of the guns to use the other to kill the thief.

How many times must a shotgun use an assault rifle to kill someone, before we ban the shotguns?  After all, the AR-15 wouldn't have shot him of it's own volition--the shotgun is the one that pulled the trigger.

That's awesome.

A man in Utah re-learned the old lesson--don't bring a knife to a gun fight

You know, I'm really starting to get the feeling that people don't trust their government agencies (which includes the police) to protect them.

All I can say to that is...good.
