We are not Europe.

Recently, New York passed a law that states that "assault" rifles must be registered with state authorities.  I recall reading in the article that followed it up some time later that less than 20% of "assault" rifle owners in the state registered their rifles.  I'm pretty sure it was probably fewer than that, should all of the facts be known.

Connecticut, after Sandy Hook, passed something similar, swearing that they only wanted to know where they were.  I'm pretty sure more registered there than in New York, but probably not as many as they'd've liked.

And now, they're sending out confiscation letters.  Granted, they're only sending letters to those they think own an evil murder rifle, but I doubt the rest are far behind.

The government officials involved in this stupidity are forgetting something: those that meekly registered their rifles like they were told may be sheep, but those that chose to disobey the law that ran contrary to their rights stated in and protected by the second amendment are likely to use those very rifles to protect themselves and their rights from a tyrannical government.

They've also forgotten that Concord and Lexington were prompted by a government gun grab.

In the twentieth century, there have been numerous gun grabs throughout Europe and Asia: The Ottoman Empire in 1915; the Soviets in the '20s; the Germans in the '30s; China, Uganda, Guatemala, and Cambodia through the second half of the century.  In each case, gun registration was near-immediately (within a year or two) followed up by gun confiscation.  In each case, the citizens meekly and lawfully turned over their arms.  And each case was followed up by massive numbers of people murdered by the very governments they turned their guns over to.  Millions.  Tens of millions.  Mostly either minority ethnic groups, persecuted religious minorities, or political rivals.

Many Americans are both aware of this and wary of this happening here.

This nation was founded by men and women who keenly felt the injustice of a hereditary political class that controlled their lives to a huge extent, and thus, left for freer pastures.  Though some two hundred years of political neglect--almost entirely benign--those who made this land their home learned to govern themselves, and learned to like the freedom to be left alone that they'd found here.

In the early 1770s, that freedom started to be constricted.  The people were treated very unfairly (see the Declaration of Independence for further detail), and it chafed.  In 1775, the British government decided to quell the rebellion it could smell brewing before it got started, and misstepped.  King George III either didn't realize, or forgot, that the American colonies were made up of steel-spined malcontents that clanged when they walked.  And, in trying to seize the means for the colonies to defend themselves, triggered the very rebellion he feared in Concord an Lexington.

Americans in 2015 are, for the most part, descended from these men who laid their lives, their fortune, and their sacred honor on the line.  We are not sheep.

And, most of all, we are not European.

We will not lay down our God-given rights to defend ourselves just because some chattering, inbred nitwits in the hereditary political classes that have grown like a tumor in the heart of our nation tells us to.

FFOT: IIC*

We have some real winners proposing and making laws.  First, we have sanctuary cities, where people who committed a crime to even be in this country, where apparently it's only a little thing where one of these criminals murder a woman who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

There are reasons I refuse to visit St. Louis and Kansas City in my own state.  That is one of them.

Then we have to appease the sackless herbivores** by creating a policy which disarms our soldiers and prevents them from defending themselves, despite the fact that they also argue that our soldiers and cops are the only ones trained enough to be permitted to own and carry said firearms.  And, of course, gun free zone equals target rich environment for those who have no intention of obeying the law, which led to four of our United States Marines being murdered by hajji at a gun free recruiting area.

And now, we have yet another law passed aimed at public schools in VA: the Every Child Achieves Act. They're so proud of themselves for naming art and music as core subjects.  Sad and sorry thing is this: they just doomed the teaching of art and music to go the same way as reading, writing and math--teaching the subject is going to go the way of teaching subjects tested always do.

And that's leaving aside the simple truth that not every child is capable of achieving to the same levels.  Many are not capable of achieving to the lowest level deemed adequate.  Are they going to do the same as they did with reading, writing, and math, and dumb everything down to the level that the least capable is able to reach, and ignore the ones that are capable of the top levels of achievement?

I know, I know: these things I've mentioned are either against the law (which criminals ignore, as I have already pointed out) or an unintended consequence.  Actually, all three instances are all unintended consequences of totally asinine laws, written and passed by mouth-breathing morons who happen to be for sale tto the highewst bidder.

I'm still debating whether our elected civil servants are whores or pimps, considering that they take the money while the rest of us get screwed.

I wish they'd go fuck themselves instead.

Well, duh...

Zimmerman has been found not guilty.

And he's not guilty of second degree murder.  Nor of anything other than justifiable homicide and self defense.  Oh, and stupidity.  Let's not forget that.

But he's not guilty of murder.

I've seen people praying for peace and sanity to prevail across the internet.

I disagree.  I'd like to see some of the human roach population exterminate itself in some form or fashion.  I'd prefer for it to be at each other's hands.  I'd really prefer for it to not be at the hands of those whom they would victimize in the name of "justice."  But I do want to see the welfare-draining, illiterate, innumerate, violent, racist, self-segregating segment of the population decrease.  I want to see it decrease a lot.

Only then does peace and sanity have a chance of prevailing.  And even then, only if the race-baiting self-proclaimed "Reverends" Jackson and Sharpton meet their Maker (and learn of His disappointment in them) in the chaos.

I have an idea!

Chicago resident Rashauda Tolbert says of her city's tendency toward gun violence, "It’s crazy. Kids can’t play outside. People can’t sit on their porches. The shooting has been going on for days. Why we gotta be prisoners in our homes?"

You "gotta be prisoners" because you live in a gun control advocate's paradise.  You live in a state run by people who force you to be a victim.  If you don't like it...you can change your state's government, or you can move somewhere that will let you buy yourself a gun, and shoot back at the rude little shits spraying bullets everywhere.

In the meantime?  I think you're stupid for staying someplace like that.

Trade-offs.

This guy wants to ban everything remotely dangerous.  It's simply not possible--life is dangerous.  If he wants everything completely safe in his world, I'd say we ought to oblige him so that he leaves the rest of us alone.

I can think of two ways to do this:

1. Fit him with a feeding tube, an oxygen tube, a catheter, and a colostomy bag, then wrap him in cotton wool from the eyeballs down and strap him to a hospital bed.  That way, his world is safe, and nothing can hurt him.

2. Fit him with a coffin, and inject him with a lethal cocktail.  Nothing can hurt him if he's dead.

But...but... this is impossible!

Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country!  Surely, there can't be gun violence in the streets!  Why, it's like criminals ignore the law when it suits them!

...Oh.

Don't. Just...don't.

Don't fire a warning shot at an intruder into your home.  Actually shoot the son of a bitch, and maintain--always maintain--that you were in fear for your life.

Otherwise?  Yeah.  The idiots in charge will arrest you and charge you with a felony, because since the scumbucket ran from your warning shot, you obviously weren't in any danger to begin with.

...so, can somebody explain this?

You have a city whose gun laws are so very tough that even museums are banned from displaying matchlocks and other historical pieces...and a murder rate that tops even New York City's.  A city where gun stores are illegal, but teenaged choir boys routinely can ride their bicycles, shooting at pedestrians.*  A city where handguns were illegal until recently, but nineteen people were shot over the course of a single night.

Wait...what?

Can somebody explain to me how this can possibly happen?  No?

Then how the fuck can they tell me that gun control works?  The cities with the strictest anti-gun laws have the highest numbers of shootings in the country, because the criminals aren't afraid that their victims will shoot back.

*What I don't understand is how his mother can possibly say that the police shot her angel in cold blood when the little bastard (probably literally) was shooting at the police, first.

Not fair!

Arizona keeps tempting me to move my kids away from their grandparents!

The state legislature may have redeemed law enforcement's mistake...

The Missouri State House of Representatives has passed a bill stating that any federal gun control law passed this year or later will not be enforced in this state.  It is also likely to pass the state senate with enough of a majority to ram it up the leftist state governor's ass, sideways and unlubricated.

Other things in the bill include the lowering of the minimum age for concealed carry to 19.

I eagerly await the day when Missouri State legislators start repealing gun laws, and passing legislation that makes strict, municipal laws restricting the rights of the law abiding to own effective means of self-protection null and void.

I have an idea...

Let all the gun-grabbers who live in free states congregate in a small state...like Connecticut, who's just passed wet-dream anti-gun laws.

Then we build a fence around it.  People can move to the state, but people living there have to take a mental health test consisting of one question before they can move out.  The question shall be: "Do you want to pass common sense gun control laws wherever you live?"

If the answer is no, they can leave the state.  If the answer is yes...well...have you seen what happens on Monty Python and the Holy Grail bridge of death scene when someone answers the three questions wrong?

Blatant pandering...

There is absolutely no fucking chance of this bill even making it out for a vote.  Missouri has a veto-proof pro-gun majority.  The only reason this bill was introduced, much less reported on, was because the anti-gunners are playing to their rich, big-city-suburb leftist voters.

You know, the ones who can't even keep the illegal guns out of their districts because they're so fucking ineffectual.

Not even going to visit.

I used to wish I could visit some of our famous cities--Boston, New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C.--but I no longer have such a desire.  I have children, and I cannot see the sense in risking my safety or theirs, and none of those cities are reasonable where it comes to my right to defend myself.

And now, Chicago's Police Superintendent is claiming that they don't have strict gun control laws, despite not recognizing anyone's concealed carry permit, not permitting people to buy any kind of guns without a permit that the police can deny for any reason, and only recently being slapped down in their banning of handguns altogether.

Yeah...until Chicago is forced to permit those of us qualified by our home states to carry, I don't think I'll ever visit.  And I'll probably never visit anyway, because I don't care for their attitude or their politicians.

I think I need to save my pennies for a while...

...and do some research on local manufacturers.  Because if this isn't an excellent idea, I don't know what is.

Um...no.

The Brady bunch are at it again, trying to spout that a victim is morally superior to a survivor.

Uh-huh.  Right.  Tell that to the rape victim that will suffer from flashbacks for the rest of her life, like I still do.  Tell that to the rape victim strangled with her own panties.

Tell that to the almost-rape-victim that was carrying a handgun, and prevented her attack entirely.

Idiots.

My right to own guns is what protects your right to scream for the government to take my guns.  The second amendment is what keeps all of the others from being abrogated.

And Mr. Foxx?  You are a racist hypocrite, but you may well have a good point.

People need to shut up for a while, and let the nation grieve the loss of the children in Connecticut.

Damn.

A woman was murdered just outside a gun-free zone in a gun-free city (NYC).  She'd stepped outside of the hospital where she was sitting with a young daughter who'd had a very bad asthma attack, and was shot.

It doesn't matter that she was likely a woman on welfare--she was trying her damnedest to get out of that trap.  It doesn't matter that she wasn't married to the father of two of her children--they'd been together for almost as long as I've been with my husband.

What matters is that she was defenseless when she shouldn't have been.  Gun free zones = target rich environments.  Criminals never obey the rules.

I'm beginning to think that no one should obey gun laws, nor pay attention to "No Weapons Allowed" signs.

I'm not feeling hopeful...

Yeah, the Supreme Court told Illinois to go get stuffed where their "concealed carry is illegal, no matter what," laws are concerned.  They've got 120 days to figure out legislation that keeps their state concealed-carry free, no matter what the Supreme Court says.

This is, after all, the state that contains Chicago.  I don't remember the last time they gave the nation something that wasn't crime, union thugs, or politicians--but then again, I repeat myself.

But...but...I thought the gun control laws in Detroit would prevent this!!!

I mean, haven't they disarmed most law abiding citizens, like most large cities have done?  How is it possible that criminals not only have guns, but assault rifles?  How is it possible for a group of thugs to be able to rob gas stations with AK-47s?

Actually, it's simple: when guns are made criminal, only criminals will have guns.
