Her hair is 20 years out of date. She flip-flopped on the "Bridge to Nowhere" issue. She's not Hillary, but she is a woman, a tough candidate, and obviously a cynical ploy to attract women voters as a group. Not that I think this is so much an insult as a comment as well thought out as the "clean, articulate," comment Biden made about Obama early in the race, but Biden pointed out that she's good looking. Her daughter's pregnant. She hasn't been vetted properly, or traveled the world, or done anything that the opposition thinks a politician should do.
Seriously, is this the best they can do?
Probably. Her speech rocked. Conservatives are excited about a candidate, any candidate, for the first time in this interminable election cycle. She's one of the common people, with skeletons in her family's closet--like the pregnant, teenage daughter--and a son and several other relatives in the army, headed for combat zones; she hunts; her husband is a blue-collar worker and union member.
But for her conservative, pro-life views, her pro-drilling views, her beauty-pageant background, her five children, happy marriage with her childhood sweetheart, refusal to spend taxpayer money unless it's necessary, real effort toward cleaning up her own party in her own state, and attitude toward American soldiers and national security, she could be the Democrats' dream girl, as well.
After all, she's as eloquent with her teleprompter broken as most politicians are with theirs functional (our current POTUS is a notable, and quite funny, exception to the eloquence rule). She's far more likable than most of the women in politics today. She's tough. She's willing to fight for what she believes in on an equal footing with the boys. She doesn't pull her punches.
What's not to like? (Well, besides the fact that she's conservative, of course.)

Didn't we expect the Fashion Nazi's to show their heads and start tearing Palins look to pieces. They really have nothing better to do then harp on looks, they need to look in the mirror and check out what is looking them in the face.
ReplyDeletePalin did a wonderful job of introducing herself and her family along with all the skeletons. Remember, thou that have no skeletons in thou closet throw the first stone. Forget that one, they are throwing bolders at her.
Palin has more experence in governing then Obama and Biden combined. Zip thy lips and get down to business after our convention is over.
This will be one dirty fight by the Democrats with lies and half truths twisted for their own means. None of it good. That does not mean Republicans are any better, we just have more class and elegance out us.
