I don't EVEN think so.

Two stories I've run across recently fall under this heading:

In the first story, you have egg-head researchers who haven't studied history (or maybe they have, and just think that the Nazi scientists had a brilliant idea in using the concentration camp victims in their experiments) naively proposing something they don't realize the full ramifications of.  After all, "for the good of society" could include things like mandatory organ donation.  After all, we all have two kidneys--if a national leader needs a kidney, and one of us is a match, surely we don't need both.  It's for the good of society.

Scary thing is, this will be far easier to implement when/if Mandatory Medicaid (Obamacare) goes into effect.

In the second story...well, there's so much wrong with it that it's hard to know where to start.  Wait, I know: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."  Trying to turn an entire city into a gun-free zone, despite some of us being licensed concealed carry, is a major infringement on that right.  The attitude behind the whole x-ray surveillance is basically telling us all that only criminals carry guns, ergo, all of us that carry guns must be criminals and need put in jail.  It's also telling us that we're subjects, not citizens.

Hate to tell HRM, Mayor Bloomberg this, but this isn't Europe, and that won't fly in the United States of America.  Although, there are enough sheep living in NYC that it might fly, there.
