Yep--she made it.

The pixie is enrolled in preschool for the fall.  Her classes will be 8:00-12:00 on MWF.

She impressed the superintendent, too.  She hid her face on me and refused to show off for him, so I showed her a stack of coasters on the corner of his desk, and asked how many there were.  She peeked around and glanced, then looked up at me: "Three."

She, if I may remind you, is three.  She told us all what color things were ("My dress is pink and purple, with hearts"), and finally warmed up a bit--enough to smile and show dimple, and announce that she loves baby dolls.

So, both of my kids will be in school in the fall.

Time flies.

  1. The future looks brighter for the United States. With your teaching skills, and children sharper than most of the knives in the drawer, there's hope.

    1. I've seen a lot of really bright kids squashed and stifled by the school environment.

    2. In a perfect world, every child would have the right amount of attention, be assessed so all their potential is realized and never be exposed to the apocalyptic environment known as "public education".

    3. There's a good reason I equate public school with child abuse.

  2. That's good. One less thing on your list to worry about.

    1. Definitely on that. I was making plans on how to get sixteen weeks' worth of childminding services for a couple hours a day, three days a week, and fretting about a bored, irritable, and lonely little girl. This way, she's going to be having a ball, and will be learning things with others (and helping the teacher take care of those smaller than her).

    1. Thing I like best? There were 34 in last year's graduating class. It's small.
