What happened to personal property rights?

We do not now, and will not ever, live in a neighborhood controlled by a homeowners' association.  This is why.

Any attempt by neighbors to organize one will be met at the door by refusal, backed up by deadly force if necessary.

  1. They try that shit with my house, they will find their house doors kicked in, and what is known in Police Circles as a Hostage Situation.

    Things'll go downhill from there.

  2. Crap like that is also why I won't do rental properties. Well, like that, and the HUD families that completely trash the place (about 8 out of 10 families).

  3. I know. I know people who have rental houses and the horror stories I hear...I lived next door to renters for a summer (thank God, they got evicted and the house was sold to a stable family) and it was awful - trash everywhere, rodent problems, loud parties, they blew up my mailbox....

    1. What's the problem here?

If you are looking for a place to rent/buy and they have an HOA, don't rent or buy it!

You are fretting over something you have complete control over.....

    2. Ricki--yeah, we faced that across the street from us. We currently have a housefull of *gasp* responsible college students (football players, and one or two girlfriends in and out), and they're some of the most pleasant neighbors we've ever had.

OCM--not fretting, appalled at the blatant theft of a house by a HOA in Florida.
