Though Russia has denied that its decision to send a nuclear-powered cruiser to participate in Venezuela's Caribbean war games is in any way linked to the situation over in the Black Sea, Putin's puppet has been quoted as wondering how the US would like it "if we now dispatched humanitarian assistance to the Caribbean...using our navy."
Honestly, it reminds me of fairly recent history. The Russians didn't come off well in the Cuban Missile Crisis. Unfortunately, this time, I doubt it will work out similarly. This time, Putin and his puppet have more testicular fortitude between the two of them than our entire congress, House and Senate, have combined. Nor do we have the manpower and equipment readiness to stand up to a full-scale threat like we did then.
And Putin's counting on it.
Update: It's about time! First of all, I didn't know there was a "civilian nuclear pact" between us and Russia. Second, does it strike anyone else as particularly stupid that we were going to be working together with a nation like this one on nuclear power, and trading ideas on how to create it? I'm glad that we've decided to postpone the pact, and hope that that becomes indefinite. I do not want to share any type of nuclear knowledge with that nation.
