Stupid f&*%ing computer...

I haven't been able to get on the internet consistently all morning.  Netbook saw the network, could get to Odysseus's computer, but somehow couldn't see that it had internet access.

It did that yesterday, too.  Now, I'm behind in grading.  (17 16x3) blog posts for 101, and (23x2) blog posts for 102.  Picking up final papers for 101 tomorrow (though four people turned theirs in early, and have been graded), and 102 on Wednesday.  I'll have blog posts to grade next weekend, and the weekend after that, then I'm done.

And next August, during the sales tax holiday, I'm getting a new netbook, at the very least.

  1. Hey there Ms. H. Unplug the power to your DSL modem, let set for a minute, power back up, refresh the network connection on your computer. Bet you'll be rollin' again.

  2. No DSL. We've got cable phone and internet as well as TV. I tried everything. It wasn't the modem--Odysseus still had internet. It was just my netbook laptop. I tried checking the task manager to make sure nothing was hogging all of the memory, checking the network connection (which, strangely enough, worked--the wireless network is powered by the same modem), disconnected/reconnected to the network...nothing worked. Odysseus did the same things I did, and the disconnect/reconnect the laptop from the network worked for him.

    1. My first thought was 'disconnect the modem' (A 'chore' I do a couple times a week just for drill!), but if 2 computers on the same non DSL hook up-1 works and the other doesn't--got to be a computer problem.....

Perhaps you and O can share the working computer until you get a fix.

    2. It's working, now. If I have to, I'll work on his computer, but I'm not working this summer. I'll have a new laptop before Fall '12 starts.

I happen to have a Sledge you can borrow.

    Weighs about 9 lbs.

  4. Dude, I've got a netbook that weighs about a third of that, at best. It'd be like using a .45 on a field mouse: splash.
